The Shutter Alliance was created 5 years ago with the above in mind. Based in the cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong, the Shutter Alliance has connected like-minded photographers all over the world together by organizing meets, photoshoots and exhibitions to inspire and fellowship.
On this occasion of the 5th Anniversary of the Shutter Alliance, it is befitting that we have come together with 2 of our good friends: drew&barry from Singapore and KOMARU from France to co-design and manufacture this new Komaru – Shutter Alliance “Marine Green” soft shutter release button, a limited edition of 188 pieces.
Marine Green, a shade of green associated with nature is seen as the colour of renewal, freshness and luck. We have chosen this beautiful shade of green for this special edition to represent the photography community which as an ecosystem is constantly growing across the generations to perpetuate photography as an artform.
Each KOMARU soft shutter release button is individually machined, partly finished by hand, in an aeronautical workshop in the Arve valley, France, a world leader in precision metal-milling. Minted entirely out of a single block of 6064a Aluminium alloy, this specific alloy is particularly well-suited for anodization and is guaranteed to provide long-lasting mechanical strength while remaining very lightweight. Anodization increases the alloy resistance to corrosion and therefore protects it from transpiration deposited on the soft release button. The underside of each button is engraved “KOMARU SA” to denote the special edition status of each button.
The dual contour of KOMARU soft release has won over thousands of photographers with its innovative design of having both convex contour on the outside and concave in the center, centering the index finger naturally and improving stability at release, even when hurried. The short conical thread of KOMARU soft release is compatible with all camera bodies, old and new such as the latest Leica models.
The Komaru – Shutter Alliance “Marine Green” Soft Shutter Release Button is a functional and beautiful piece of accessory. Silky to the touch yet incredibly lightweight, a total of 188 pieces were made for this strictly limited special edition and will be marketed exclusively by Barton1972 and drew&barry.
